NAIDOC Week

NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia each July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. More information about NAIDOC Week.  


Indigenous Implementation Board

The purpose of the Board is to build stakeholder involvement, ensure that recommendations from earlier reports have been implemented where appropriate, consider the structural underpinnings of Indigenous disadvantage and recommend ways in which service delivery can be enhanced. Find out more.

Redress WA

The State Government announced a $114 million scheme, commencing in May 2008, to acknowledge adults who, as children, were abused while in State care in Western Australia. Redress WA will assist individuals in recognition of the harm they suffered while in State care prior to 1 March 2006. Find out more.

Bilateral Agreement on Indigenous Affairs

The Bilateral Agreement on Indigenous Affairs was signed by the State of Western Australia and the Commonwealth of Australia. The Agreement establishes an agreed framework and priorities for intergovernmental cooperation and enhanced effort in Indigenous affairs. Find out more.

The Department of Indigenous Affairs' (DIA) Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) was launched on Thursday 31 January 2008. Find out more

Find Your Mob

The Aboriginal History Research Unit (AHRU) works in partnership with the community and other government agencies to assist Aboriginal people identify their family ties and cultural links to the land.

WAIFS

The WA Indicator Frameworks Systems ( WAIFS ) is a DIA initiative to improve accessibility to and assist with reporting of measured outcomes for State Government frameworks. Government agencies wanting to add their frameworks to the system can email DIA.

PALS Awards

PALS is a joint initiative between the Department of Indigenous Affairs and BHP Billiton that encourages Western Australian students to take an active role in Reconciliation in their school and wider community.
